If a referendum on the introduction of the Euro as the country's sole currency was held today, it would go down to defeat, according to a recent survey. 50% of Lithuanian residents are opposed to introducing the Euro, while 35% approve and 15% are undecided. The survey results were published in the newspaper Business and Baltiya At the same time, the newspaper says that unlike a number of other EU countries, Lithuania will not have a separate referendum on the transition to the Euro. Residents will vote on the Euro while deciding whether or not to join the EU in a referendum on September 20.
