At a reception in honour of the visit to Great Britain of the Russian delegation headed by President Vladimir Putin, Russian bureaucrats will be required to wear special dress coats. 170 people will be invited by the Queen to the triumphant activities in Buckingham palace. This visit is especially important for both countries. Alexander II in 1874 was the last head of the Russian government to officially visit Great Britain. After the murder of the members of the Romanov family, the Windsors did not come into official contact with the leaders of the USSR and later Russia. The first exception has been made for Vladimir Putin.
The ceremony, like everything in Great Britain, will be governed by strict rules. Women must wear long evening dress and closed shoes. Men must wear dress coats, white vests and ties and also special ribbons. There have also been rumors that bureaucrats will have to wear top hats. However, British protocol did not promote such a requirement. Moreover, journalists must also observe the imposed dress code.
During his visit, Putin will take a ride in the royal carriage, view a parade of cavalry regiment and also visit the observatory and cruise the Thames River on the royal yacht. Putin will converse with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the less formal setting of Blair's residence.
