Thailand intends to create the most favorable conditions for attracting Russian tourists. Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov and his Thai counterpart Surakiart Sathirathai discussed this issue during the ASEAN forum in Cambodia, Russian foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko told the press.
According to the information of RIA Novosti, Ivanov discussed the issue of simplifying the visa regime for the Russians with representatives of many states of the Asia-Pacific region during the forum in Cambodia.
During the talks between the Russian and Thai foreign ministers, the sides discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, scientific-technological and other fields, noted Yakovenko. The sides favored increased mutual trade. "In the common estimate, the current level of mutual trade ($630 million) is not up to the potential of our countries," said Yakovenko.
The ministers confirmed common approaches to the further development of cooperation in the international arena.
