Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Markaryan has sent his Russian counterpart Mikhail Kasyanov a letter requesting to allocate additional quotas for purchase of corn in compliance with the preliminary agreement reached at the talks with the Russian President's plenipotentiary in the South federal district Viktor Kazantsev.
Corn import from Russia will allow to curb bread prices in Armenia till the harvest, Markaryan told journalists.
The volume of corn produced in Armenia meets the country's needs for only six months.
