Press secretary to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry Masoud Khan announced at a Monday briefing that Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov would make a one-day visit to Islamabad on June 15th.
When talking to a RIA Novosti correspondent, Khan said that the Pakistani leadership attached great significance to the coming trip, as the last time a Russian foreign minister visited Pakistan was in April 1993.
The Russian minister will discuss a wide range of bilateral co-operation issues with the Pakistani leadership, as well as the situation in south Asia and other regional problems.
Following the "historic visit" made to Moscow by Pervez Musharraf at the start of the year, Khan pointed out that the consultations with the Russian minister would be a new opportunity to discuss ways to improve relations between the countries, that are no longer marred by mutual distrust or any other misgivings.
