Chairman of the Georgian National Security Council Tedo Djaparidze has appealed to Ukraine and Azerbaijan to support a proposal to create a 'strategic triangle' aimed at providing greater security for the states of the Black Sea basin. As Mr Djaparidze told journalists on May 16, the creation of the 'triangle' would be 'a catalyst for greater integration between oil-extracting countries.'
Mr Djaparidze believes this initiative would make it easier to transport oil from the Caspian Sea and Kazakhstan across Georgia to Ukraine and then through Poland to the rest of Europe. He remarked that this would create a new political and strategic corridor.
