USA Hopes Russia Will Convince Palestinian Leadership To Counter Terrorist Groups' Actions

As a permanent member of the UN Security Council Russia can help convince the leadership of Palestine and Syria in the need to counter the actions of terrorist groups. This is what US ambassador to Moscow Alexander Vershbow said at a seminar entitled: "Russia in Global Politics."

As the ambassador stressed, the international anti-terrorist coalition has been able to strengthen cooperation in countering terrorist threats. However, it has to be understood that the struggle is far from being over today, bin Laden is still in hiding and possibly plans new terrorist acts, Alexander Vershbow stressed.

According to him, such terrorist groups as Hezbollah and Hamas and others continue to operate in Palestine and in the Middle East as a whole and continue to pose a threat to Israel and the entire region. According to Vershbow, it is necessary to realize that today the struggle against terrorism is not over but what is important is that the international community has means and instruments to continue this struggle.
