Arriving to Moscow on a private visit on Wednesday, State Minister Abbas al-Fassi, special envoy of Morocco's King Mohamed VI, has brought with him a personal message of the Moroccan monarch to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the RIA Novosti correspondent quotes Mohamed Tawfik, press attache of the Moroccan embassy in Moscow, as saying on Wednesday.
According to him, Abbas al-Fassi had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov on Thursday. Central to their meeting were bilateral relations, as well as a number of topical international problems of mutual interest.
Last October, during an official visit of the Moroccan king to Moscow the two heads of state signed the Russian-Moroccan Strategic Partnership Declaration. It expresses the two sides' mutual desire to promote the establishment of a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East. Russia and Morocco have agreed to promote the disarmament process at the international and regional levels, particularly by strengthening the regime of the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Today, Morocco is Russia's largest after Egypt trade partner in Africa.
