Jay Garner, head of the interim American administration in Iraq, is holding a Baghdad meeting with spokesmen for Iraq's major opposition parties. The meeting involves those who were in opposition to Saddam Hussein's regime and were active outside Iraq, as well as spokesmen for two major Kurdish parties - the Democratic Party of Kurdistan and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
This is the second time the opposition leaders have met since Hussein was overthrown.
Representatives of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution are taking part in this meeting, whereas they were absent from the previous one.
Radio SAWA, Voice of America's affiliate broadcasting in Arabic, has said the meeting's objective was to set up interim Iraqi authorities.
Michael O'Brien, British Foreign Office Minister, is attending the meeting.
