Delegations of the two chambers of the Russian parliament - the Federation Council and the State Duma - will participate in the mini-session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to be held in Berlin from April 28-30. The delegations are headed respectively by PACE Vice-Chairman and chairman of the international affairs committee of the Federation Council Mikhail Marghelov and deputy head of the delegation of the Federal Assembly in the PACE and vice-chairman of the international affairs committee of the State Duma Leonid Slutsky.
As the press centre of Bundestag (parliament) of Germany reported, parliamentarians from all the 45 countries of Europe which are PACE members are expected in Berlin. The meetings of the PACE Standing Committees will be held in the building of Reichstag where the deputies of German Bundestag usually assemble. It is not planned to hold a plenary meeting. President of the FRG Bundestag Wolfgang Thierse will address the participants in the mini-session with a greeting.
RIA Novosti was told in the Council of Europe that simultaneously with the meetings of a number of standing commissions it is also planned to hold in Berlin a meeting of the PACE Bureau at which, in particular, an assessment of the situation in Chechnya and the role of the Parliamentary Assembly - Duma Joint Working Group on Chechnya will be discussed.
