North Korea claims it has made "a new bold proposal" on solving the nuclear problem, the North Korean Foreign Ministry's spokesman announced on Friday via the Central Telegraph Agency.
Yet he did not specify what exactly Pyongyang had proposed to the USA. America, however, did not come up with anything original and repeated its previous demand that North Korea should cancel the nuclear programme, the diplomat mentioned.
"Proceeding from aspiration to achieve a stable peace and security on the Korean Peninsula we made a new proposal on solving the nuclear issue and will wait for the US reaction," the Foreign Ministry's representative emphasised.
The North Korean diplomat, whose name has not been disclosed, reported that the talks held in Beijing on April 23-25 had been US-North Korean talks arranged by China. He reproached the US delegation for avoiding discussion of "essential issues" that should be considered by the two countries.
