Russian Defence Minister Arrives in South Korea on Official Visit

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov yesterday evening arrived in Seoul on a three-day official visit. He will meet with the political and military leadership of the Republic of Korea to discuss issues concerning ensuring international security.

The official part of the visit by the Russian Defence Minister will start with laying wreaths to the Eternal Fire at the National Cemetery.

After that, Sergei Ivanov will hold negotiations with his South Korean counterpart Cho Yong-kil. The sides will discuss questions concerning ensuring security, including in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the state and prospects of the development of cooperation between the Defence Ministries.

In the afternoon, Sergei Ivanov will meet the recently elected President of the Republic of Korea, No Mu-hyon. According to diplomatic sources, they will focus on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

That day the Russian guest will visit one of the South Korean military units.

On Friday, April 11, the Russian Defence Minister will leave Seoul for Tokyo.
