US Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham is in Moscow to discuss ways of establishing a US-Russian dialogue over energy. The US Embassy press service in Moscow told Rosbalt's correspondent that, during his visit from July 30 to August 4, Abraham intends to meet with Energy Minister Igor Yusufov, Atomic Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev, and also representatives of Russian energy companies. The US Energy Secretary's meetings begin today.
The embassy indicated that the talks will cover preparations being made for the Russian-American business summit which will take place in Houston in October, and also investment opportunities for Russian and American companies in each country. The day's agenda also includes the questions of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, limiting the spread of nuclear weapons, and also developing safer technology for nuclear energy. Work on the Caspian pipeline will also be discussed.
