Consultations between Belarussian and Israeli foreign ministries

The main issues of Belarussian-Israeli relations will be discussed during consultations of the countries' foreign ministries due in Minsk on July 29-30.

The consultations will focus on cooperation between Belarus and Israel in political, trade, economic and cultural spheres, as well as on issues of inter-parliamentarian interaction, relations within the UN and other international organizations.

The parties will also exchange opinions on the most topical international problems, said the Belarussian foreign ministry's press secretary Pavel Latushko at a briefing on Thursday. They will discuss ways of fighting with terrorism, achieving regional stability and safety, and the Middle East developments.

Special attention will be paid to further expansion of the legal basis for the countries' bilateral relations. This concerns ratification of the basic package of agreements in the trade and economic sphere. The participants will also touch upon perspectives of exchanging business delegations, arranging joint exhibitions, carrying out a number of investment projects, in particular, creating a joint venture for producing automobile filters, modernizing parking systems, building a large trade centre in Minsk.

The historically close and friendly relations between the Belarussian and Israeli people are a guarantee of gradually developing cooperation between the two countries at the modern stage, Latushko stressed. "The consultations of the foreign ministries will allow to comprehensively intensify relations with Israel, which Belarus considers a prospective trade and economic partner in the Middle East region," he added.
