Lithuania occupies "pro-Russian position" in the process of settlement of the Kaliningrad problem

On Tuesday deputy Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the North-Western district Andrei Stepanov stated to journalists in Saint Petersburg that Lithuania was occupying "pro-Russian" positions in the process of settlement of the Kaliningrad region problem (regarding the free transit of Russian citizens from the Baltic enclave to the rest of the country's territory).

He stressed that Lithuania was a supporter of the preferential passage and preferential transit of Russian cargo across its territory, also the Lithuanian side supported the Russia's stand on other matters related to Kaliningrad.

Stepanov was confident that the resolution of the problem of demarcation of the Russian-Lithuanian border at present "was the prerogative of Russian and Lithuanian parliaments" which "definitely would solve that matter."
