The parties to the Collective Security Treaty discussed in Moscow the situation in Afghanistan and the tasks of the post-conflict settlement. The press service of the Secretariat of the Collective Security Council reported about it on Thursday.
The session participants confirmed the importance of further assistance on the part of the treaty's member-countries in bringing the life in Afghanistan back to normal. The representatives of these member-countries spoke about the necessity of coordinating their actions on key aspects of the Afghan problems.
At this session its participants also discussed the fight against terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, illegal migration and arms smuggling. In this connection, the participants in the meeting spoke in favour of coordinating their actions with the appropriate structures of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
The members of the Collective Security Treaty are Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia. The Treaty was concluded in 1992.
