A memorandum on liberalisation of trade between Kosovo and Albania has been signed in the Albanian capital Tirana, reports this correspondent. On behalf of Kosovo the document was inked by head of the UN civil mission to the province Michael Steiner.
The memorandum provides for an exchange of information between the two governments, and mutual assistance in organising exhibitions, fairs, seminars and other events to promote trade. Earlier, the memorandum had been signed by the Kosovo minister for industry, but the UN mission head annulled his signature. Under the well-known UN Security Council resolution on Kosovo, adopted in 1999, the government of the province has no right to sign international agreements.
