The Swiss authorities have announced their readiness to cooperate in the investigation of the plane collision above Germany.
According to a source in the Swiss embassy to Moscow, the purpose of the investigation is to "find the guilty and estimate the responsibility that will be imposed on the Swiss air traffic control Skyguide." The embassy has once again offered its condolences to the relatives of crash victims. "It is very important that we express, once again, just how shocked the Swiss government and the Swiss nation were at the news of a midair collision above Ueberlingen, which claimed 71 lives," said RIA Novosti's source.
The tragedy occurred on the night of July 2nd above Boden Lake, Germany. The collision, which involved a Russian Tu-154 passenger jet belonging to Bashkir Airlines and a Boeing-757 cargo jet belonging to the DHL courier service, claimed the lives of the 12 crew and 57 passengers on board the Tu-154 and the 2 pilots on board the Boeing. Of the passengers, 52 were children headed for a summer vacation.
The majority of experts blames the Swiss air traffic control, which oversaw both jets at the moment of the collision.
