Lieutenant General Yeoryios Antonakopulos, the chief of the General Staff of Greece's National Defence, is coming to Moscow for a working visit.
According to a source in the Russian defence ministry, the Greek commander will hold negotiations with General Anatoly Kvashnin, the chief of the General Staff of Russian Armed Forces. The two high-ranking officials will discuss bilateral military and military-and-technical cooperation, ways of increasing mutual trust, and the military-and-political situation in the Balkans.
Antonakopulos is also expected to pay a visit to St. Petersburg, where he will meet with the top brass of the Leningrad Military District and representatives of defence enterprises.
According to the source in the defence ministry, no official documents, agreements or commitments will be signed during Antonakopulos' trip. Nevertheless, a source in Rosoboroneksport told RIA Novosti that Greece intended to purchase some of the Russian-made arms, including mobile air defence systems.
