The onboard flight data recorders of the Tu-154 liner which collided in the air with a Boeing-757 freight aircraft are in a satisfactory state.
Vladimir Kofman, chairman of the commission for investigations of the Inter-State Aviation Committee (MAK) of CIS countries, said that on the previous evening four flight data recorders of the Tu-154 were brought to the city of Braunschweig, where the German investigation bureau's processing centre is situated.
It can be judged from the black boxes' outside appearance, noted Kofman, that they are in a good state and that not much time will be required to decipher them. At the same time, went on Kofman, the procedure will take "several days." According to the chairman of the MAK investigations committee, the objectivity of the investigation into the causes of the Russian Tu-154 crash should not be doubted. An international group of experts consisting of Americans, Germans, Swiss and Russians are involved in the investigation, noted Kofman.
