Denmark considers the future development of Russian-EU energy dialog a priority in the Russian-EU relations, said Denmark's ambassador to Russia Lars Vissing in an interview to RIA Novosti as Denmark became the EU chairman.

"Russia needs a long-term policy in energy producing and transporting to Western Europe", the ambassador said. Apart from this, the country needs investments to the energy sector, as well as to the oil and gas industries, he believes.

It would be easier to expand Russian-EU relations in the sphere if Russia ratified the Agreement to the Energy Charter, a multilateral document on energy cooperation, according to Vissing.

The ambassador refuted the common statements that there were certain limitations on Russian energy, oil and gas deliveries to the EU. "We do not fear that Russia can become a monopolist in energy deliveries to Europe. The only existing limitations are concerned with energy produced at nuclear power plants", he said.

Among measures for more efficient cooperation in the energy sphere Vissing named providing safety of Russian energy, oil and gas deliveries to Europe, Russia's abiding by the EU competitive trade conditions and future cooperation for using Russian oil pipelines for transporting oil from other countries, in particular, from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

"I hope that during Denmark's chairmanship in the EU we will be able to achieve a serious progress in the Russian-European cooperation on these issues," the Danish ambassador concluded.
