At the talks slated to be held in Moscow on July 3 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Igor Ivanov and his counterpart Tirrone Fernando from Sri Lanka will discuss the struggle against international and local terrorism, religious extremism and militant separatism, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Yakovenko said in the interview given to RIA Novosti.
According to him, the sides will also exchange opinion on the questions of ensuring strategic stability and international security, and the course of developments in Afghanistan, the Middle East and in South Asia. The diplomat holds the view that "a good tradition of maintaining a regular political dialogue has become established between Moscow and Colombo". Yakovenko confirmed the Russian side's readiness to hold consultations between the Foreign Ministries on a regular basis in accordance with the Protocol signed in 2000.
