International organisations rendering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan have decided to withdraw their personnel from the town of Mazar-i-Sharif, Northern Afghanistan. Charities took this step as the situation in the region is increasingly aggarvating.
According to the UN office in Kabul, the situation in Mazar-i-Sharif has aggravated because of the rivalry between armed groups striving to take control over this Afghan region. These are the Uzbek movement commanded by General Dostum /the Muslim Movement/ and the Hazari Wahdat armed group.
Former Northern Allies who fought the Taliban movement are now dividing spheres of influence, sometimes resorting to weapons of war. According to the UN office, there has been a number of attacks on foreign citizens in Kabul over the past few days.
