Iran is optimistic about Caspian problem settlement

Iran's foreign policy is aimed at removing the strain in the relationship between the neighboring countries, said Iranian President Mohammad Khatami.

"The development of our relationship with our neighboring countries is based on mutual understanding and non-interference in other countries' matters. The region belongs to us and we must ensure its security together helping each other," Khatami said.

At the end of his three-day trip around Iranian provinces Khatami paid attention to the Caspian sea problems.

"There is certain disagreement between the Caspian states, we cannot solve all problems at once. However, I am quite optimistic about the future," Khatami stated.
