Russian Interior Ministry's delegation completes its visit to Mongolia

The main result of the visit by the delegation of the Russian Interior Ministry to Mongolia is the achievement of a full mutual understanding on all questions of cooperation between the law enforcement bodies of the two countries, said Russian Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov to reporters on Friday after the end of the visit to Ulan Bator.

The Russian minister had meetings with Speaker of the Parliament Sanjbegziin Tumur-Ochir and Prime Minister Nambaryn Enkhbayar. At these meetings the sides pointed out that cooperation between the two countries in all the spheres in the past two years had become more efficient. The visit to Mongolia by Russian President Vladimir Putin in November 2000 gave an impetus to the development of contacts, said the Russian Interior Minister.

The sides were talking about the development of across-border cooperation. The Mongolian side proposed to open additional check-points on the border with a simplified regime, said the Russian minister. "In this respect we should meet the other side half way so that our good-neighbourly relations grow stronger and become more active," emphasised Boris Gryzlov.

Chairman of the State Great Hural Sanjbegziin Tumur-Ochir spoke of the Mongolians's interest in the Russian culture and the Russian language which has not been lost, but continues to grow. He complained of a sharp drop in the level of teaching the Russian language in the country because of the lack of text-books and special literature on the subject.

"We must pay special attention to this problem," said the Interior Minister of the Russian Federation.

Boris Gryzlov visited the Police Academy in Ulan Bator. The Russian Interior Ministry will be a patron of this educational establishment and will also render all possible assistance to the hospital of the Mongolian Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs.
