Japanese leader presents Putin with a piece of fabric in support of Russian football team

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with an elaborate piece of fabric in support of the Russian football team. The fabric was made by Shimizu citizens.

According to Friday reports from Tokyo, the Japanese leader handed the gift to the Russian President in the course of a bilateral meeting in Kananaskis, Canada, the venue of the recent summit of the G8 leaders.

The Russian tricolour piece of fabric with a bright inscription on it "Russia, Go Ahead!" written in Japanese became the only reminder of the World Football Cup at the Russo-Japanese summit.

The city of Shimizu hosted the base of the Russian football team at the World Cup.
