Uzbekistan does not intend to withdraw from the GUUAM regional organisation which also comprises Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov told his Ukrainian counterpart Anatoly Zlenko in a telephone conversation.
The press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry quoted Kamilov as saying that Uzbekistan had only halted its participation in some of GUUAM projects.
Meanwhile, earlier Kamilov officially confirmed Tashkent's decision to withdraw from GUUAM in a RIA Novosti interview. Uzbekistan's membership of this organisation, he said, was motivated by the ambition to get integrated into the process of multilateral economic cooperation. However, no positive results have been achieved over 4 years, he concluded.
