At the Russian-American consultations on Africa, which have just ended in Moscow, the sides have reaffirmed their interest in the deepening of cooperation in African affairs, said the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday.
Problems of the African continent were discussed in view of the upcoming summit of the Group of Eight in Kananaskis, said the Russian foreign policy establishment.
In discussion at the Moscow consultations were democratic and economic reforms in African states, the strengthening of regional stability, forming Africa's peacekeeping potential. Antiterrorism was in focus.
The Russian delegation at these consultations was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov and the American delegation by Charles Snyder, Deputy Assistant of the Secretary of State for African Affairs.
