G8 ministers welcome agreements reached during Bush's visit to Russia

All participants in the G8 ministers' meeting in Canada welcomed agreements reached during the Russian visit of US president George Bush, Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov said at a press conference.

According to him, the agreement on strategic offensive weapons cuts, the political declaration of new relations between Russia and the USA, and the creation of Russia-NATO Council were positively assessed.

Igor Ivanov believes that all this favourably influenced the atmosphere of international relations. According to him, it contributes to more effective solution of a number of questions, including the struggle against international terrorism, and arms control.

It is doubtless, Ivanov pointed out, that Russia-USA, Russia-NATO and Russia-EU summits have become an important element in creating a new political climate in the world.
