Russian, North Korean Ministers of Railroads Discuss Reconstruction of Trans-Korean Railroad

The Ministers of Railroads, Gennady Fadeyev of Russia and Kim Yong-sam of North Korea met on June 11 to discuss the prospects of carrying out the project of the reconstruction of the eastern part of the Trans-Korean Railroad, which connects with the Trans-Siberian Railroad. According to the press service of the Russian ministry, the parties agreed that the workgroup looking into this would meet in Moscow shortly, representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development of Russia participating.

According to its press service, the Ministry of Transportation of Russia has inspected the eastern part of the Trans-Korean Railroad in order to obtain data for the feasibility study yet to be completed. The cost of the reconstruction is expected to amount to USD 3 milliard.
