Moscow welcomes India's peace initiative

Moscow welcomes the peace initiative of the Indian leadership, which decided to withdraw battleships from the Arabian Sea to their home ports in the Bay of Bengal, to resume air and railway traffic between India and Pakistan, and to send the Indian ambassador back to Islamabad, reported the Information and Press Department of Russia's foreign ministry on Wednesday.

According to a source in the ministry, all those steps will help relax tensions in Indian-Pakistani relations and contribute to the peacekeeping effort that involves Russia and the whole world community.

The situation calls for Pakistan's readiness to carry out its promises to eradicate transborder terrorism and extremism and to prevent infiltration of militants across the Control Line in Kashmir, stressed the source.

Moscow hopes New Delhi's gesture of good will create a good atmosphere and help India and Pakistan resume their political dialogue.
