Russian president Vladimir Putin will meet prime minister of Japan late in June during the G-8 summit in Kananaskis, Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov told journalists in Canada on Thursday.
He met today with Japanese foreign minister Joriko Kawaguchi to discuss the preparation for this meeting.
Answering the questions put by RIA Novosti, Ivanov pointed out that the Japanese foreign minister was expected to visit Russia in autumn or at the end of the year. To prepare this meeting, consultations will be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers, he said.
In the course of the meeting both sides expressed interest in resuming active political dialogue between the two countries
