Russian SC Secretary Vladimir Rushailo discussed issues of the regional security, first of all taking into account the situation in Afghanistan, with Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev on Tuesday.
Bishkek is concerned about Moslem extremists' possible sallies, a representative of the Kyrgyz presidential press service reported. In this connection possibilities to use joint rapid deployment forces and the antiterrorist centre were under consideration. Besides, Kyrgyzstan as the country presiding in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization reckons on Russia's expert assistance, particularly in legal and political issues.
Issues of economic cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Rushailo and Kyrgyz Prime Minister Nikolai Tanayev. In particular, they considered the matter of joint exploration of deposits of precious and rare-earth metals.
