Uzbekistan's president Islam Karimov believes that the signed documents have determined the place of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in the world and regional policy.
The SCO success "depends first of all on a very important thing which implies understanding of how the SCO looks upon changes that are taking place in the world today," Uzbekistan's president stressed. He believes that "the SCO must assess all the events happening around the world nowadays reasonably and pragmatically", which will allow the organisation to become an influential regional political institution.
Uzbekistan's president compared this summit with the US-Russia summit held in St. Petersburg recently. "Documents signed at that summit are a proof of clear and reasonable understanding of what is going on in the world today," Karimov stated.
