Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee highly estimated the results of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia held in Kazakhstan.
At the concluding press conference held in Almaty yesterday Vajpayee made special mention of the Declaration which was signed by all the participants in the summit and which condemns both terrorism itself in all of its forms and manifestations, and assistance to it by any means.
Vajpayee said that terrorism is now backed under the cover of liberation struggle. But, he added, no state is entitled to use terrorism as a method to support a separatist movement, the Indian TV channel Star News notes.
The Indian Premier confirmed that he is ready for peace talks with Pakistan on solving all bilateral problems but an appropriate atmosphere for this must be created. Talks can start only after cross-border terrorism is stopped, Vajpayee said.
On June 7th, Vajpayee plans to meet with US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage. The sides intend to continue discussing ways to reduce tension in relations between New Delhi and Islamabad.
