The meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Russia and the countries of Central America will be held in New York in September in the context of the 57th session of the United Nations General Assembly. This agreement was achieved at the Russian-Nicaraguan consultations in Managua, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.
At the present time Nicaragua is an interim coordinator of the Central American integration system.
The participants in the consultations exchanged information on the situation in their countries and also on key international issues. The sides discussed the situation in Latin America and on the Central American sub-continent. Bilateral relations occupied an important place at these consultations. "The discussions have confirmed the coincidence of the appraisals of their present state and also of the perspectives for building up the political dialogue, for diversifying trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation and for expanding and strengthening the contractual-legal basis," the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out.
Director of the Latin American department of the Foreign Ministry Valery Morozov took part in the consultations from the Russian side. The delegation of Nicaragua was headed by Foreign Minister Norman Caldera.
