Good weather sets in "Kursk" disaster area

The weather in the Barents Sea has improved, which means it is possible to launch the operation to raise the fragments of the first compartment of the nuclear submarine Kursk, reported Vladimir Navrotsky, the chief of the Northern Fleet press service, on Tuesday. Should the good weather continue, the Northern Fleet will send the auxiliary ship Kil-164 to the disaster area in the next few days, he said. It will take the ship 10-12 hours to reach the area from Severomorsk.

According to Navrotsky, the rescue ships Mikhail Rudnitsky and Altai are expected to leave for the Kursk disaster area about 36 or 48 hours after the departure of the Kil-164 to raise the Kursk's high-pressure air bottle and fragments of its torpedo tube. Both items are wanted by the General Prosecutor's Office, which will use them to make a final conclusion about the causes of the Kursk disaster.
