The broken oxygen generator will not lead to a crisis in the International Space Station, experts think. Press secretary of the Russian Space Control Center Valery Lyndin said the electrolysis installation Electron that produces oxygen from water turned off overnight. The crewmembers started using a backup method of producing oxygen. "Russian and US specialists are investigating the causes of the malfunction of the system and are hoping that the crewmembers will fix it with the help of the Control Center," said Lyndin. The Space Control center's press secretary cited the words of James Hartsfield, NASA spokesman, that "the crew has plenty of oxygen to breathe because of the backup sources that can produce oxygen during three months." He recalled that the ISS crew that includes Yuri Onufriyenko, Carl Walz and Daniel Bursch, are completing their work at the ISS in the beginning of June.
