Russian Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov does not think it necessary to launch a large-scale drive on the fight against corruption. Ustinov said this after his meeting with Italy's National Anti Mafia Prosecutor Mr. Vigna. It was his answer to journalists' question whether there is any intention of the Russian General Prosecutor's office to launch a "clean hands" operation, like in Italy. According to the Prosecutor general, routine work of the Russian prosecutor's office includes the so-called fight for "clean hands". But he finds it unnecessary to make this work a large-scale campaign. At the same time Ustinov admitted that there is a lot to do in his department. The Prosecutor General noted that some mass media in both Russia and Italy gave biased coverage of the anticriminal fight. According to him, criminals were backed to some extent in both countries.
