Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Moldovan counterpart Vladimir Voronin on Monday signed a protocol in the Kremlin on an exchange of ratification instruments for a protocol on friendship and co-operation. Mr. Putin announced after the signing ceremony that the treaty would legally enhance the level of relations reached between the two states and provided a sound legal basis for their further development. Russia will strictly adhere to the principles denoted in the treaty, the president stressed. He also thanked his Moldovan counterpart for his political courage, professionalism and urgency in the course of work on this document.
