Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev does not consider EurAsEC as an alternative to the CIS. Speaking Monday at the press conference on the results of the EurAsEC Interstate Council session Nazarbayev stated that cooperation within the EurAsEC framework cannot prevent cooperation within the CIS framework. Nazarbayev also noted that GDP growth in EurAsEC member countries amounts to 8 percent on average, while that of industrial output and agriculture - 10 percent. The President of Kazakhstan expressed his confidence that the Eurasian community will turn into a union in the future.
