On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and FRG Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder had a telephone talk on the initiative of the German side, presidential press secretary Alexei Gromov reported. The federal chancellor once again expressed his condolences on the terrorist act staged in Kaspiisk. Vladimir Putin, expressing gratitude to Gerhard Schroeder for the sympathy shown, noted the great moral-political significance of the solidarity demonstrated by the leaders of the majority of the countries of the world. During the talk, Vladimir Putin and Gerhard Schroeder discussed individual issues of bilateral relations, noting the Russian-German forum "Together into the 21st Century," which is beginning in Moscow and the Olympiad of the Russian and German languages being held simultaneously with it as the next important step in their further development.
