Well-known U.S. Congressman Curt Weldon (R.) called the decision of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, which supported the idea of exchanging the visits of Russian and U.S. scientists to the two countries' nuclear test ranges on a mutual basis "the first decisive step in the right direction." This is said in Weldon's statement, spread in Washington, where Weldon, who is a member of the leadership of the House's committee on armed forces and co-chairman of the working group Duma-Congress, welcomed the adoption of the amendment to the law on the U.S. defense budget which provides for mutual visits of U.S. and Russian scientists to the nuclear test ranges in Nevada and Novaya Zemlya. The amendment passed last Thursday, whose co-author Curt Weldon is, is of a recommendatory character. Its final approval depends on the Senate's position.
