Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov congratulated his Bosnian counterpart Zlatko Lagumdjia on Bosnia and Herzegovina's full membership in the Council of Europe, the Russian Foreign Ministry's press and information department said. The admission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Council of Europe indicates to "the acknowledgement of the Bosnian progress in the implementation of peace agreement and in the creation of statehood and democratic principles," said the Russian Foreign Ministry. Igor Ivanov is convinced that Bosnia and Herzegovina's participation in the activities of the Council of Europe "will contribute to the efforts of all countries on the establishment of confidence and mutual understanding between Bosnian citizens regardless of their nationality and religion".
