On Thursday a group of generals and officers of the central apparatus of the Federal Frontier Service of Russia (FPS) together with its director Colonel-General Konstantin Totsky went on a working trip along the 700-km Astrakhan sector of the Russian-Kazakh boarder. RIA Novosti learned from the press service of the North-Caucasian regional department of the Federal Frontier Service that there are a lot of unsettled problems there. Last year trains going from Dushanbe (Tadjikistan's capital) to Astrakhan illegally carried 56 Afghan people, and all in all 1.370 people were detained. Together with customs service goods and cargoes worth 1.5 million roubles (about 50,000 dollars) were removed from smugglers. Poachers were deprived of 34 tons of fish, 90 ships and 108 km of net.
