Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Adrian Severin plans to appeal to donor countries to render economic support to Kirghizia. According to the press service of the Kirghiz president, Mr Adrian Severin made such a statement Wednesday in the course of his talk with Kirghizia's head Askar Akayev. The OSCE PA Chairman indicated that he intends to make this appeal at the soonest OSCE economic forum in Prague. In the course of the meeting with Askar Akayev Mr Adrian Severin also noted that Kirghizia considerably surpass certain OSCE member-countries in terms of democracy in society and protection of human rights and he expressed his readiness to act as Kirghizia's lawyer in the OSCE, the press service reported. The OSCE PA Chairman has been on a visit to Kirghizia since May 1. The objective of his visit is to get acquainted with the political and economic situation in the country. On Wednesday Adrian Severin held meetings with speakers of the both houses of the Kirghiz parliament and foreign minister Muratbek Imanaliyev. In the course of the meetings the sides discussed issues of regional security, the situation with human rights in the republic, and an initiative of the OSCE PA to arrange a Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum within the OSCE framework.
