President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma told German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder that he "favoured further reform in Ukraine and that he will do his best to render support to Premier Yuschenko's activities." This information was provided by the press and information department of the German government in connection with the telephone conversation held by the Chancellor and the President. The Chancellor has approved Kuchma's efforts to "continue rapprochement" of Ukraine and "European structures", and has underscored "steadfast reformist policy of the Ukrainian government headed by Victor Yuschenko". According to Schroeder, it was exactly "due to this policy", underlined the Chancellor, that the international financial organizations had managed to restore their relations with Ukraine. The Chancellor of Germany has reiterated Germany's interest in "consistent pursuing in Ukraine of the policy of reforms". In the view of Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, this "will help Germany and its European partners to further persistently support the cooperation of Ukraine with the European Union and the international financial organizations"
