Upon his late arrival in Dushanbe, Russian President Vladimir Putin headed for the country residence of the Tajik President hosting the trilateral meeting of Presidents of Russia, Tajikistan and the Islamic State of Afghanistan - Vladimir Putin, Emomali Rakhmonov and Burhanuddin Rabbani. The meeting focused on the military and political situation in Afghanistan and ways of the Afghan settlement. Vladimir Putin is accompanied by Russian Security Council Secretary Vladimir Rushailo, Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, Deputy Head of the Kremlin administration Sergei Prikhodko, Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov and Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu. Upon the Russian guests' arrival, President Vladimir Putin had a bilateral meeting with Rakhmonov. In the beginning of the meeting, the Tajik President told Putin about the humanitarian corridors via Tajikistan to render assistance to the Afghan people.
