Russian President Meets Malaysian Prime Minister

Russian President who is staying in Shanghai to attend the APEC forum has met Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohamad. The Russian President has confirmed the invitation for the Malaysian Prime Minister to make an official visit to Russia. Earlier the visit was postponed because of the September 11th events. In his turn, M. Mohamad stressed he would surely visit Moscow early next year. The conversation has revealed that the arrangements for the visit are being made thoroughly and are progressing. The sides, in particular, discussed economic elements of the coming visit and issues of military-technical cooperation. The sides discussed in detail the Afghan developments and the Mideastern situation. Then Vladimir Putin started his meeting with Chinese Chairman Jiang Zemin. In the afternoon the Russian president will take part in the opening of the APEC summit.
