One Palestinian school girl was killed and another wounded as a result of Israely shelling of the town of Jenin on October 18. A Palestinian policeman was killed in Ramallah. This information was provided by Palestinian sources. They also report that in the early hours of Thursday, Israeli tanks approached Jenin and Ramallah, two towns within the Palestinian Authority. Israeli also introduced curfew in two districts of Ramallah. Those actions are considered as a response to the Wednesday assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi committed by the militants of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP.) The Palestinian side has not committed any retaliatory actions against Israeli yet in order not to trigger escalation of the conflict. In addition, it was reported that Palestinian authorities arrested several activists of the PFLP in Ramallah.
